Everyone has the ability to be a great leader.

Would you believe that you already possess everything you need to be a great leader? It’s true! The real question is: are you doing everything you can to apply your strengths and be the leader you are meant to be? Regardless of what you do–if you’re a people manager or an individual contributor–you are a leader and it’s time for you to apply your unique leadership advantage.

What is the KMH Advantage?

Applying your leadership and reaching your potential.

There are many paths that point to your leadership potential. Kathleen Holmes (the KMH in KMH Advantage) founded this company to work with leaders just like you: leaders who are yearning to take the skills, knowledge and strengths they already have and turn them up a level or two; leaders who might not even realize that they are currently leading; leaders who believe there’s something more for them, they just aren’t exactly clear how to get there.

As a coach and consultant, Kathleen has honed her own leadership working as a College Administrator, a Learning & Development Manager for a multi-national technology company, an instructor in a graduate-level class for engineering leaders, and as a coach and consultant for individual leaders and teams across both the public and private sectors. Clients generally engage Kathleen to work with them one-on-one, work with their small team or whole organization, or through participation in a cohort-based program.

Through ongoing one-on-one leadership coaching, Kathleen builds a strong relationship with clients and helps them uncover new things about themselves. Together, they say the quiet part out loud to give the voice and agency to the leader within. Using questions and curiosity as a guide, her clients uncover their unique leadership and how they can apply it in their lives.

Whether you’re looking for a single workshop on a specific leadership topic, or a series of different workshops, Kathleen has experience facilitating content that will help your team learn and grow and challenge them to apply their learning for maximum impact.

Currently under development, Kathleen is using her rich experience gained from teaching hundreds of graduate students to build out a leadership development program for aspiring leaders outside of academia. This program draws on individual reflection, self-assessment, engaging activities with peers, and one-on-one asynchronous and real time coaching to help leaders uncover their strengths and start to apply them with great impact.

Enhancing your leadership on multiple levels.

There are so many facets to leadership, you can’t be an expert in all of them, however, you can hone your skills in a few areas that allow you to have greater impact. Below are samples of different concepts Kathleen uses in individual coaching, facilitating standalone workshops and in her broader leadership development curriculum. If you’re interested in any of these topics, or looking for something else, reach out and we can see what might be possible.

Core Values and Authentic Leadership

The foundation of who you are and how you lead is rooted in your core values. By being able to articulate what those are you will build trust, credibility, and commitment; and you will better understand yourself and how you relate to others.

Understanding Your Strengths, Styles, and Preferences

We approach things in ways that are unique to our preferences and styles–and there are strengths and limitations to all of those. By understanding our own strengths and the strengths of others, we can foster more creative and effective teams and deliver more powerful results.

Emotional Intelligence, Psychological Safety, and Inclusive Leadership

The most successful leaders have a strong understanding of emotional intelligence and an appreciation for how that enables psychological safety for themselves and others. Leaders who embody these concepts are more likely to outperform their peers be the person people will follow anywhere.

Leading Change and Adaptive Challenges

We all know that change is a constant in life and leading change is something we’ll all face. Understanding the nature of change and especially the qualities of technical and adaptive challenges can help you better predict and address resistance and find solutions that really stick.

Breakthrough Thinking with Action Learning

The power of simple questions, coming from a place of curiosity rather than of knowing can unlock breakthrough thinking. Using a proven format from the World Institute of Action Learning (WIAL), you and your team can move from stuck to unimagined success on your most difficult and urgent challenges.

Establishing Vision and Achieving Big Goals

Leaders are forward thinking and responsible for establishing a vision–and learning how to do that is an important skill to hone. Creating a clear and meaningful vision and then identifying the actions you want to take to help you achieve that vision (and inspire others to join you) takes practice and you can do it!

What Leaders Have to say

Kathleen has an authentic way of facilitating meaningful discussions that are very rarely found in a teaching environment… she leads uniquely and with a caring manner that makes a difference that will endure.
